Planning Your Career

The search for rewarding employment can be a challenging task. Where do you start? How do you find the "hidden" jobs? The ECC One Stop Career Center can help you conduct a strategic and successful job search campaign.  We provide job search assistance to a wide range of job seekers, including:

  • Individuals recently been laid-off
  • People considering a career change
  • New graduates or individuals just starting a career
  • Retired individuals who want part-time work
  • Individuals seeking branding assistance to make them more competitive (identification of your best features to highlight your strengths)

We understand that every individual has different goals, so your Career Coach will work with you on an approach that works best for you.  You may also want to take one of our Career Exploration Using JobZone workshops, or spend some time speaking to visiting businesses at one of our job fairs or recruitment events.

Make a Change through Career Coaching

Job searching can often create a fair bit of anxiety for individuals. Individualized career coaching ensures that you receive personalized attention and the encouragement you need along the way to keep you positive and focused.  Coaching happens in a confidential, trusting exchange of conversations, with caring, highly trained One Stop staff.

We can help you develop career strategies and your next-steps based on our success helping thousands of other job seekers like you.  We will also help you develop the skills and confidence essential for networking. The core value of career coaching is to help you assess your professional situations with honesty and empathy, while guiding you through your career objectives.

What Sort of Advice Can I Expect from Career Coaching?

The career advice you receive from a career coaching session will depend on your current situation, feelings, wants and needs. We meet many people for the first time after they experience a job loss. Other individuals seek our help because they want a career change or a promotion at their current job.  We want to learn about your current situation and offer you encouragement.

Maybe you are concerned about your age being a barrier or that a career change might prove to be a wrong decision. Our One Stop system has resources available to help you move forward. If your occupation is making you unhappy, take a positive step for your own health and happiness and call us today at 716-270-4444 for a confidential, cost-free appointment.  If you don’t have a clear career goal, it is worth spending some time doing career exploration activities and researching other potential avenues that are a good fit with your passions and strengths.
